IVF expansion

Mouse in vitro fertilization (IVF, in vitro fertilization) refers to the fertilization process of mouse sperm and eggs in an artificially controlled environment in vitro, and the fertilized eggs are transplanted into pseudopregnant mothers to obtain newborn mice. The use of in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology can greatly reduce the use of male rats and can obtain a large number of the same week-age offspring mice.

In vitro fertilization (IVF):

1, improve the utilization rate of male mice.
1-2 weeks of age-appropriate male mice (12-16 weeks old) can complete an in vitro fertilization experiment, which greatly saves the number of male mice and reduces the use of experimental resources.

2, shorten the breeding time.
natural breeding, female mice need 6-8 weeks to be sexually mature before they can be used for mating, while female mice used in IVF can be superovulated in only 4 weeks. IVF only takes 1.5-2 months, compared to the 3 months for a naturally born generation.

3, reduce the individual differences of the same batch of offspring mice.
The birth date of the same batch of offspring mice obtained by in vitro fertilization (IVF) varies by no more than 5 days, reducing the amount of time due to mice weeks of age and batch differences greatly improves the quality of the experiment. For male mice with difficulty in natural breeding, IVF can improve the success rate of breeding.

Sperm cryopreservation/resuscitation

Gene germplasm resources mainly adopt the method of freezing, which can freeze sperm, embryo, epididymis, ovary, etc. Among them, cryopreservation of sperm and embryos of mice can greatly reduce the funds, time, and space occupied by raising animals, and avoid the loss of genes in the process of feeding.
